Currently seeing queues out the door for his latest offering of The Tempest starring Ralph Fiennes at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, next up for the Trevor Nunn season is the classic The Lion In Winter opening on 5th November to 28th January with press night on 15th November starring Robert Lindsay and Joanna Lumley.

"I am excited to be directing the London premiere of a famous play about a power struggle full of sexual politics and political sex, with two such brilliant actors as Robert Lindsay and Joanna Lumley." - Trevor Nunn

Originally a Broadway production that premiered in 1966 and later revived again on Broadway in 1999, it is mostly famously known as being one of Katherin Hepburn's winning Oscar roles for the 1968 film.  This is the first West End production of The Lion In Winter.  Both Broadway productions won the leading ladies Best Actress awards at the Tonys.

Joanna Lumley, one of the UK's most recognisable actresses has been most recently seen in the West End for the production of David Hirson's La Bête at the Comedy Theatre (now known as the Harold Pinter Theatre) in 2010 with David Hyde Pierce and Mark Rylance, directed by Matthew Warchus. She also took the role to Broadway that year and was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play, for her performance.

Three time Olivier Award winner, Robert Lindsay has been most recently in the West End in the title role of Onassis.
