"STRICTLY" MIDNIGHT TANGO COMING TO THE WEST END

The current Strictly Come Dancing tour show, Midnight Tango will be bought to the West End in January 2012 by stars Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacac. It will be a strictly limited season at the at the Aldwych theatre in London.

Simone and Cacace are award winning dancers from Italy, and they have been professional partners since they met in their teens.  Their first choreographed show Midnight Tango, will open on 20 January and run until 31 March 2012

Set in a late-night bar in downtown Buenos Aires, Midnight Tango brings to life all the drama, sensuality and elegance of the passionate dance style of the title. Simone and Cacace will be joined on stage by tango dancers from around the world, as they lead audiences on a journey to the heart of Buenos Aires full of danger, excitement, joy, jealousy, pain and passion.

Midnight Tango is directed by the Olivier Award-winning choreographer Karen Bruce. As well as her work on the show that brought Simone and Cacace into the public eye –BBC’s hugely popular dance show Strictly Come Dancing – Bruce has worked on theatre productions including Footloose in the West End and the Donmar Warehouse’s Pacific Overtures.

Midnight Tango launched a 13-week nationwide tour from Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre on 6 April 2011, before continuing to Oxford, Salford, Bradford, Sheffield, Woking, Nottingham, Birmingham, Plymouth, Sunderland, Milton Keynes, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Glasgow, where it concludes on 30 July.

Delighted to be coming to Theatreland, Simone and Cacace commented: “It's an absolute thrill that we are taking the show to the West End. We sincerely hope to continue giving pleasure and making our audiences smile and cry with our show.”

Midnight Tango is produced by West End choreography royalty Arlene Phillips,  and Dirty Dancing producer Adam Spiegel who described the show as “a must-see”.

Arelene Phillips is a leading choreographer herself and former member of Hot Gossip, She was controversially dropped as a judge from TV’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2009 in favour by the much younger Alesha Dixon. Her many West End credits include Flashdance, The Wizard of Oz, Starlight Express, Grease and Saturday Night Fever.
