STOMP TO CELEBRATE IT'S 20TH BIRTHDAY

The multi award winning feel good show Stomp will celebrate its 20th Birthday this autumn.

There will be a variety of performers, mainly comedians playing at some of the various venues where Stomp has been staged over the last 2 decades.

Stomp's current home of 4 years, The Ambassadors Theatre, will have a Birthday Gala Special celebration on 14th November 2011.  There will be a number of ‘high-profile comedian friends of Stomp’ on stage that will take part in a specially choreographed routine with its co-creator Luke Cresswell.

Stomp has a universal language of rhythm, theatre, comedy and dance.  Eight performers use all types of junk and clutter, which include everything from Zippo lighters, plastic bags, bin lids and even the kitchen sink to hammer out an explosively feel good rhythm.

Stomp has also had a lot of international and UK touring success. It began in Brighton and premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe festival on 1991.

Following this in 2002 it premiered in Vaudeville theatre in London’s West End, where it ran for 5 years before transferring to The Ambassadors in 2007.
Stomp was created by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas, who also direct the show, and 2009 saw a refreshed and updated version, which included new music and routines and a brand new ‘surround sound’ in the auditorium.

Cresswell’s and McNicholas’s work also included creating and composing ‘Lost and Found Orchestra’, which explores found sound on an orchestral level. They recently purchased the Old Market in Brighton, now launched as a venue for fellow artists and emerging local talent.

Stomp is not only a major West End hit, it has been shown in 48 countries.  It is now performing in Australia, Moscow, Amsterdam, and New York.  Due to this, global phenomenon it has been seen by more than 15 million people.

Booking for Stomp have been extended through to 15 December 2012, it has performances on Mondays and Thursdays to Sundays weekly. From 20 September to 12 October 2011, it will run concurrently with another Edinburgh-originated hit, Showstopper! The Improvised Musical, This will fill it and run on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
