ROBIN COUSINS JOINS CHICAGO AT THE GARRICK THEATRE

Dancing on Ice Head Judge, Robin Cousins will take over the role of lawyer Billy Flynn from David Bedella in Chicago .  He will join the production now on at the Garrick Theatre from 17th July to 8th September.

Now known for his success on the ITV show since his glory days of being one of the UK's favourite Ice-Skating champions including a gold medal at the 1980 Olympic Games, it may surprise many people that Robin Cousins has also enjoyed stage success.

His musical theatre debut was at The Muny in St Louis as the Prince in Cinderella on Ice in 1990 and he has since gone onto perform as Munkustrap in Cats, Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Show and Teen Angel in Grease.  This will undoubtedly be his most high profile role in the West End.

In addition to Cousins, Chicago stars Sarah Soetaert as Roxie Hart, Rachel McDowall as Velma Kelly, James Doherty as Amos Hart, Jasna Ivir as Mama Morton and R. Whitehead as Mary Sunshine.

He will be kept busy during the run which coincides with the London 2012 olympics as the skater turned choreographer is also mentoring the British Synchronised Swimming Team at this year's Olympics. In a press statement, he has commented, "Joining the cast of Chicago as Billy Flynn will be an amazing experience and is a dream role for many actors. Doing the show at a time when the world's best athletes are here for the greatest sporting event on earth will make it even more thrilling."

Since opening in 1997 Chicago has continually been one of London's most successful West End productions and often has famous celebrity faces appearing in the main roles.  Most recently Ugly Betty star America Ferrera made her West End Debut as Roxie Hart.
