NEW WEST END MUSICAL EXPOSURE SEES MONROE BACK ON STAGE!

Spring 2012 will see a new West End musical production, Exposure, come to the stage, where a rare archive of Marilyn Monroe images will be shared.

The images will be provided by Getty Images which will be the first time the photography company has entered into a partnership with a musical.

Matthew Butson of Getty Images commented: “Getty Images is thrilled to be able to be involved with such an exciting venture as Exposure. Having seen the project grow and develop from its initial conception, we had no hesitation in wanting to be a part of what we see as a ground-breaking musical and, coupled with our world class imagery, a visual as well as aural feast. We are privileged to be associated with such an inspired production and, ultimately, to be in a position to help bring Mike Dyer’s vision to life.”

The production team of the new musical Exposure will have access to images which cover more than 150 years, as well as recently discovered material and photos on Marilyn Monroe.

With details of the venue and dates to be announced, Exposure will be a musical exploring people’s obsession with fame and celebrity.   It will follow a controversial photographer, Jimmy Tucker, who slides from moralistic photojournalist to paparazzi king under the influence of a corrupt agent. As his life hangs in the balance following a motorcycle accident, his lucid dreams merge with photographic images.

Exposure is written and composed by Mike Dyer, with co-writer Stephen Lowe, and is directed and choreographed by Javier De Frutos.   Work of the Venezuelan dancer in London, has included choreographing The Most Incredible Thing at Sadler’s Wells, which is the recent Pet-shop boys show, and Rufus Norris’s production of Cabaret in the West End, for which he won an Olivier Award.
Mike Dyer, the creator of Exposure, said: “It will be wonderful to have my vision fleshed out by these marvellous photographs. I’m absolutely thrilled to have the research and support that Getty Images can provide, to help us uncover some visual gems that will make the show visually stunning”.
