Cats To Make West End Return

Cats Is returning to the West End stage this Christmas in a year which seems to find many of the much loved classics returning to London's theatre district. The show which was a world wide hit when it opened in the 1980's will have the "original A team" back at the helm according to composer Andrew Lloyd Webber including including Trevor Nunn directing, John Napier designing and Gillian Lynne choreographing.

In an interview Andrew has said ‘We wanted to do Cats again ourselves, then the Palladium came up and Trevor fell in love with it. We’re taking the Cats show that’s touring and working on it afresh’.

He added that he’s re-writing a couple of the songs, which are based on poems from T. S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book Of Practical Cats. ‘For instance, today Rum Tum Tugger should be a street cat and so that gives us a great dance opportunity and I must say that I never liked what I did with Growltiger’s Last Stand. I hated it, so we’re having a go at that.’

Cats will preview in early December once the Royal Variety Show has been recorded and following Lord of the Dance, which runs from September.

Stay tuned upcoming news on casting, crew, and Cats the musical tickets as it is announced!
